The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
In a statement, the Minister congratulated Muslims across the country on the successful completion of the Ramadan fasting period. He emphasized the importance of upholding virtues such as self-discipline, compassion, and peace.
The government also called on citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged during the festive period. The public holidays aim to allow Nigerians to observe the festivities and spend time with family and loved ones.
Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, and is celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
