The House of Representatives has approved President Bola Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. This move follows a tumultuous period in the state, marked by escalating tensions and security concerns.


President Tinubu declared the state of emergency on Tuesday, citing the need for extraordinary measures to restore peace and security in the region. The proclamation included the suspension of Governor Siminialayi Fubara, his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, and all members of the State House of Assembly. Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) was nominated as the Administrator to oversee the state's affairs during this period.


The House of Representatives approved the President's proclamation after a brief debate during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen
