Labor leaders praised the decision as a timely intervention to safeguard workers’ purchasing power, positioning Edo among Nigeria’s top states in minimum wage benchmarks. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Edo State Chapter acknowledged the alignment with economic realities but stressed the need for clear implementation timelines to ensure smooth adoption.
Governor Okpebholo reiterated the administration’s commitment to infrastructure, healthcare, and education reforms to drive sustainable growth, with plans to collaborate with unions on enforcement mechanisms for private sector compliance.
