U.S. Bombs Iran’s Key Nuclear Facilities, Trump Warns of Further Action
President Donald Trump delivered a prime-time address Saturday evening following coordinated U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s key nuclear facilities. The strikes mark the United States’ formal entry into open conflict with Iran, raising fears of a wider regional war.
President Trump announced that U.S. forces had successfully carried out “massive precision strikes” on three critical Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Using advanced B-2 bombers equipped with bunker-buster bombs and cruise missiles, the U.S. military targeted deeply buried uranium enrichment facilities that have long been at the center of international concern.
“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated,” Trump declared. “Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror.”
The president issued a stark ultimatum to Iran, warning that the recent strikes were just the beginning. “Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace,” Trump said. “If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.”
Trump also condemned Iran’s history of hostility, referencing the killing of American personnel and the role of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in orchestrating violence across the region.
Trump praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli Defense Forces for their cooperation in the operation. “We worked as a team like perhaps no team has ever worked before, and we’ve gone a long way to erasing this horrible threat to Israel” he said, highlighting the close U.S.-Israeli partnership amid rising regional tensions.
Trump concluded by thanking the U.S. military, expressing hope that further military action would not be necessary, and invoking blessings for the military, Israel, and America, "We love you, God, and we love our great military. Protect them. God bless the Middle East, God bless Israel, and God bless America."
The strikes come after weeks of escalating exchanges between Iran and Israel, including rocket attacks and drone strikes. Analysts warn that Iran may retaliate against U.S. military assets in the region, potentially targeting bases in Iraq, Syria, or the Persian Gulf.
The Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil shipping route, remains a flashpoint, with Iranian threats to close it raising concerns about global energy markets and international security.
Despite the show of military strength, President Trump expressed hope that further bloodshed could be avoided. “There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days,” he said, urging Tehran to choose diplomacy over conflict.
Saturday’s address marked a turning point in U.S.-Iran relations, with Washington signaling a willingness to use overwhelming force to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions. The coming days will be critical in determining whether this escalation leads to a broader war or a renewed push for peace.
