Abiodun Pledges ₦50m to Super Falcons Ahead of Benin Decider
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has donated ₦50 million to the Super Falcons as they prepare to face Benin in the second leg of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier on Tuesday. The pledge was announced during a reception at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Monday.
The Super Falcons hold a 2-0 aggregate lead after goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo and Esther Okoronkwo in Cotonou last Friday.
“This gesture is to motivate the team and show our unwavering support,” Abiodun said. “You represent leadership, teamwork, and discipline — qualities that inspire young women across Nigeria.”
Head coach Justin Madugu welcomed the boost but warned against complacency. “We respect Benin and will approach the game with full focus,” Madugu told reporters. “The first-leg result means nothing if we don’t finish the job at home.”
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade echoed the sentiment. “The support from Ogun State means a lot,” Ajibade said. “We want to reward the governor and our fans with qualification.”
The match kicks off at 4:00 p.m. at the MKO Abiola International Stadium.
Abiodun also revealed plans to transform the stadium precinct into a tourism hub with a five-star hotel, cinema, and shopping complex. “Your return here validates our investments in sports,” he added.
