Prince Andrew Stripped of Titles and Evicted from Royal Lodge
In a sweeping move that marks a dramatic shift in royal accountability, King Charles III has formally stripped Prince Andrew of his titles and ordered him to vacate his longtime residence at Royal Lodge in Windsor. The announcement was made by Buckingham Palace on Thursday, October 30, 2025, ending weeks of speculation about the disgraced royal’s future.
“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” the Palace said in a statement. The Duke of York will now be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, a significant demotion for the King’s younger brother.
The decision comes amid renewed public and political pressure over Andrew’s ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Though Andrew continues to deny allegations made by Virginia Giuffre, the Palace emphasized that the move was “deemed necessary” due to “serious lapses of judgment”.
Andrew’s lease on Royal Lodge, which was originally set to run until 2078, has now been terminated. “Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease,” the Palace confirmed. Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s ex-wife and current cohabitant at the Lodge, will also be required to vacate the property.
Prince William and senior government officials reportedly backed the King’s decision. A source close to the Palace noted, “The monarchy must reflect the values of the people. This was a necessary step to preserve its integrity”.
Andrew will be relocated to a private residence on the Sandringham Estate, a marked downgrade from his previous royal accommodations. The Palace has not disclosed further details about the new arrangement.
