Verse of the Day

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Jeremiah 29:11 is one of the most comforting promises in Scripture, yet it was originally spoken in a season of great pain. The Israelites were in exile—displaced, discouraged, and uncertain about their future. In that dark time, God reminded them that His plans had not changed. He was still their Shepherd, still their Redeemer, and still their Hope.

This verse teaches us a powerful truth: God’s plans often unfold in ways we don’t understand, but they are always rooted in His love. His “thoughts” toward us are not random or reactionary; they are deliberate and full of purpose. Even when life feels chaotic, He is working behind the scenes to bring about peace, growth, and restoration.

When the Lord says His thoughts are “of peace, and not of evil,” He’s declaring that His intentions for you are good — not to harm you but to bless and mature you. The Hebrew word for “peace” here is shalom, meaning wholeness, well-being, and completeness. It’s more than the absence of conflict; it’s the presence of divine harmony in every area of your life — spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

The phrase “to give you an expected end” reveals that your life is moving toward a divine conclusion that God Himself has designed. You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can rest in the assurance that God holds tomorrow. Every delay, detour, and difficulty is shaping you for that “expected end” — a future filled with His goodness and glory.

This verse invites you to trust God’s timing and intentions, even when you can’t trace His hand. Your journey may take unexpected turns, but His destination for you is certain: peace, purpose, and fulfillment in Him.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your Word that reminds me You are always thinking of me. Even when I feel forgotten, You are planning my steps with love and wisdom. Your thoughts toward me are filled with peace, not harm; with purpose, not confusion.

Lord, help me to trust that You are working, even in silence. Strengthen my faith when I cannot see the outcome, and teach me to rest in Your promises. Let Your peace guard my heart from fear and doubt.

When I face delays or disappointments, remind me that You have not abandoned me — You are simply preparing me for the “expected end” You’ve already designed. Replace my anxiety with confidence, my worry with worship, and my impatience with trust.

I surrender my plans to You, O Lord, and align my will with Yours. Lead me on the path that fulfills Your purpose for my life. Thank You for being faithful, good, and unchanging. I receive Your peace and rejoice in the future You have prepared for me.

In Jesus’ mighty name,

Amen.
