Erling Haaland scored a dramatic 86th-minute winner as Norway defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 in a thrilling 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash at AT&T Stadium on Tuesday.

Antonio Nusa fired Norway ahead in the 39th minute with a stunning curler into the top corner. Amad Diallo produced a moment of brilliance for Ivory Coast in the 74th minute, equalising with what many called a goal-of-the-tournament contender. But Haaland, the Manchester City striker, rose to the occasion late to secure Norway's first World Cup knockout victory in decades.

The result advances Norway to face Brazil in the Round of 16, while eliminating a spirited Ivory Coast side that had impressed in the group stage.

Ivory Coast had matched Norway's intensity, creating chances through pacey attacks. Diallo's equaliser lit up the stadium, showcasing the creativity that carried the Elephants this far.

Haaland, who was rested for the final group game, proved decisive once more.

The match, played in front of over 69,000 fans, highlighted contrasting styles: Norway's clinical finishing against Ivory Coast's flair and physical presence. Both teams showed why they progressed from their groups, but Norway's star power edged a tight contest.
