Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has dismissed five commissioners in a significant cabinet reshuffle, marking the second such reorganization since he assumed office. The affected commissioners include Chrysanthus Dawam (Budget and Economic Planning), Noel Nkup (Youth and Sports), Jamila Tukur (Tourism and Hospitality), Obed Goselle (Science and Technology), and Sule Musa (Commerce and Industry). Notably, Dawam and Tukur had been suspended for three months last year before being reinstated, making their recent dismissal particularly notable.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Samuel Jatau, confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the governor has also nominated replacements for the sacked officials. The new commissioner-nominees are Joyce Ramnap, Sunday Alex, Sylvanus Dongtoe, Nicolas Baamlong, and Cornelius Doeyok. Ramnap is a former deputy speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
While no official reason was provided for the dismissals, sources suggest that underperformance may have been a factor. Governor Mutfwang extended his gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors. “The governor appreciates their contributions to the state and hopes they succeed in their next engagements,” Jatau stated.
