Jigawa Gov Approves Hiring of 9,970 Security Personnel

The Jigawa State Government has approved the recruitment of 9,970 security guards to enhance the safety and security of public facilities across the state. This decision was made during a State Executive Council meeting, following recommendations from the Committee on the Safety of Schools, Health Institutions, and Courts.

Sagir Ahmed, the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, announced the initiative, emphasizing the government's commitment to safeguarding lives and properties. According to him, the approval aligns with the state government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and properties.

The recruitment aims to proactively protect primary and secondary schools, high courts, magistrate and Shari’a courts, primary health centers, and general hospitals. Ahmed expressed optimism that this approach would help reduce crime rates and improve overall safety in and around public institutions. He noted that the council will engage private indigenous security companies, employing 9,970 Jigawa State youth from the respective communities to serve as security personnel, fostering local employment and community-driven security solutions.

In addition to the security guard recruitment, the State Executive Council approved a waiver of costs for seeds, fertilizers, agro-chemicals, and labor, totaling N112,015,900.00, for 335 flood victims in the Jigawa State Rice Millionaire Project. The Commissioner of Information stated that the move is in recognition of the challenges faced by residents affected by the 2024 floods.
