The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, April 18, 2025, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, ahead of the Easter festivities.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged all Nigerians to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, love, and forgiveness exemplified by Jesus Christ during this sacred period. He encouraged citizens to use the holiday to pray for peace, unity, and stability across the nation.

The Minister also reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that the government remains dedicated to fostering national development and harmony.

The declaration of these public holidays provides an opportunity for Nigerians to engage in religious observances, family reunions, and community activities, while also taking a moment to promote national cohesion.
