Saheed Osupa has withdrawn his legal case against Portable, who was previously remanded in custody for failing to meet bail conditions after Osupa filed a petition alleging defamation, threats, and incitement.
Osupa's withdrawal comes with three conditions for Portable: retract his statement implying Osupa should be held responsible if anything happens to him, confess to the falsehood of claiming Osupa begged for forgiveness through his lawyer, and sign an undertaking to stop cyberbullying, defamation, and character assassination. Failure to meet these conditions may result in the case's reinstatement.
Osupa initially filed the legal action due to intellectual property rights infringement and public misconduct but withdrew it following appeals from prominent Nigerians and moved by Portable’s inability to meet bail conditions. The withdrawal is also extended to the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, with Osupa's legal counsel requesting the court to warn Portable against further disparaging utterances. The dispute began after Osupa flagged Portable’s song, ‘Fuji Shakushaku’, for copyright infringement, leading to Portable criticizing Osupa online, later apologizing for his actions.
