The Jigawa State Public Complaints Commission (PCC) has formally sought a stronger partnership with the Jigawa State Police Command to enhance the effective discharge of its duties. This appeal was disclosed in a statement signed by the spokesman of the state police command and issued on August 22, 2025.
During a courtesy visit to the Police Headquarters in Dutse, the state capital, the Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission, Hon. Barde Usman Shehu, emphasized the critical role his commission plays in addressing grievances between the public and government agencies, promoting fairness, and safeguarding citizen rights. He described the PCC as a non-judicial body tasked with investigating complaints, mediating disputes, and making recommendations for amicable resolutions. Hon. Shehu clarified, "The PCC is neither a court of law nor a law enforcement agency, but an institution designed to promote accountability, justice, and good governance."
The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, CP Dahiru Muhammad, warmly received the PCC Commissioner and commended him for shedding light on the commission's roles and operations. CP Dahiru expressed the police command’s readiness to forge a close working relationship with the PCC for the collective interest of peace, justice, and enhancing public confidence in governance. He remarked, "We share a common goal of fostering justice, fairness, and public confidence in governance. Our collaboration will only deepen service delivery and enhance law and order in Jigawa."
