The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has announced his intention to return to his alma mater, Ibadan Boys' High School, to teach physics and mathematics after his official coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. The former Oyo State governor, who also previously taught at the school, made the promise during a courtesy visit from the school's management team on Monday, September 8, 2025. The visit took place at his residence in Bodija, Ibadan.
Oba Ladoja, who is also an alumnus of the school, expressed his gratitude to the school's management, which was led by the Principal, Rasheed Fasasi. During the meeting, he said the visit would provide an opportunity for him to reconnect with his roots and inspire the current generation of students. "Beyond being an alumnus of the school, I was also a former teacher here, where I taught Mathematics and Physics. So, during my visit after the coronation, I will engage the students in classwork,” Oba Ladoja stated, as reported by Punch on September 8, 2025.
The principal of the school, Rasheed Fasasi, expressed his belief that Oba Ladoja's visit would rekindle students' pride in their school and boost their morale. The coronation of Oba Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall, Ibadan. The coronation will cap a week-long series of events that will begin on Monday, September 22, 2025, with an interdenominational service at the Olubadan Palace, as reported by Punch on September 1, 2025.
