Femi Otedola Donates ₦4 Billion for Electrical Engineering Block at Augustine University

Billionaire businessman and philanthropist Femi Otedola has donated ₦4 billion to Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, for the construction of a modern Electrical and Electronics Engineering block. The announcement was made on October 30, 2025, during the university’s 7th convocation ceremony and 10th anniversary celebration.

Mr. Otedola, who serves as the Chancellor of the Catholic-owned university, described the donation as funding for the delayed second phase of the Faculty of Engineering, which had encountered cost increases due to inflation. He presented a cheque of ₦500 million to the contractor on the same day, marking the formal commencement of the project. Construction is expected to be completed by the 2026 convocation.

This new facility will complement the existing Dame Doja Otedola Faculty of Engineering, named in honour of Otedola’s mother. It will house industry-grade equipment, renewable energy modules, and control systems aimed at aligning with Nigeria’s initiatives on grid modernisation and local manufacturing.

This latest donation builds on Otedola’s past philanthropic efforts toward Augustine University. In 2024, he contributed ₦3.7 billion for the initial phase of the engineering complex.

Through these initiatives, Otedola continues to support education infrastructure development and the advancement of engineering education in Nigeria, emphasising the importance of skills that meet labour market demands. His contributions demonstrate a model of strategic philanthropy focused on impactful investment in critical sectors.
