Ondo Varsity Students Arrested for Alleged Drugging and Rape of Colleague

Two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, have been arrested over allegations of drugging and conspiring to rape a fellow female student. The incident reportedly involved a 19-year-old female student, Queen Sodo, who allegedly lured her long-time friend and fellow student with a drug-laced drink before inviting a male accomplice to sexually assault the victim. Police intervention, prompted by a neighbour's timely report, prevented further harm and led to the suspects’ arrest.

The victim, a 20-year-old female student, was invited to her friend’s residence under the guise of a normal visit. Upon arrival, she was offered a drink that was later confirmed to be drugged, causing her to lose consciousness. Queen Sodo then left the room to summon her male accomplice, remaining nearby as the crime occurred. The neighbour’s quick response facilitated the rescue of the victim and alerted law enforcement authorities.

Following their arrest, both suspects confessed to the crime and cooperated with investigators, providing crucial information for the prosecution. Evidence recovered at the scene included the bottle containing the drug-laced drink, which has been sent for toxicology analysis. The suspects are currently in lawful custody awaiting transfer to the Gender Desk Office in Akure for further investigations and legal proceedings.

The Ondo State Police Command has called on the community to report suspicious activity promptly, reaffirming their commitment to combatting sexual offences on campuses.

The police statement urged parents to educate their children on exercising caution in friendships, especially regarding invitations that may expose them to harm.
