Caleb University has officially appointed Pastor Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as its new Chancellor. The university’s Governing Council confirmed the appointment in a statement released on Monday, February 23, 2026, marking a significant leadership transition for the private institution.
The appointment follows the university’s 15th convocation ceremony held on February 18, 2026, where Pastor Adeboye was initially honoured with an honorary Doctor of Humanity (Honoris Causa). According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Governing Council ratified her selection on February 21, citing her decades of service in education and youth development.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olalekan Asikhia described the move as a "new dawn" for the institution, emphasising that the chancellorship represents a strategic alignment between academic scholarship and spiritual growth. Asikhia noted that by inviting her to the role, the university has "effectively enthroned character at the pinnacle of scholarship."
"Pastor Foluke Adeboye embodies a legacy that transcends pulpit and platform," Prof. Asikhia stated. He further noted that she is viewed as an "institutional builder" whose global visibility within humanitarian and educational networks is expected to catalyse new partnerships and philanthropic engagement for the school.
The 15th convocation also saw the graduation of 1,924 students, including 96 who earned First Class honours.
Pastor Adeboye succeeds the previous leadership at a time when the university is aggressively expanding its research and entrepreneurship initiatives. Her role as Chancellor will involve serving as the "custodian of the university's ethos" and a guardian of its charter as it seeks to bolster its moral and academic architecture.
