| LAPD responded to a Sunday afternoon shooting outside Rihanna’s Beverly Hills estate. |
Los Angeles authorities have arrested a 30-year-old woman identified as Ivanna Ortiz after she allegedly fired an AR-15-style rifle at the residence of global music icon Rihanna on Sunday afternoon. The singer was reportedly inside the home at the time of the shooting, which prompted a massive law enforcement response in the exclusive Beverly Hills Post Office neighbourhood.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 1:15 p.m. on March 8, 2026. According to LAPD radio dispatch audio, first responders reported hearing roughly 10 shots fired from a white Tesla parked across from the property’s main gate. Investigators later recovered seven spent assault rifle casings at the scene.
While no injuries were reported, the gunfire caused visible damage to the estate. Law enforcement sources told the New York Post and PEOPLE that at least one bullet penetrated an exterior wall of the mansion, while other rounds struck the perimeter gate and a recreational vehicle parked in the driveway. Rihanna, 38, was unharmed during the incident, though it remains unclear if her partner, A$AP Rocky, or their three young children were present.
"When they pulled the suspect over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings," LAPD spokesperson Armen Arias told the Los Angeles Times. The suspect reportedly fled the scene heading south on Coldwater Canyon Drive before being apprehended by officers approximately eight miles away at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.
Ortiz has since been booked on allegations of attempted murder, according to CBS Los Angeles. LAPD Capt. Mike Bland stated that additional details regarding the suspect's motive and formal booking charges would be released on Monday as the Robbery-Homicide Division continues its inquiry.
Representatives for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have not yet issued a public statement. This security breach follows a history of incidents at the singer's properties, including a 2018 case where a stalker spent 12 hours inside her former Hollywood Hills home.
