In this moment, God reveals His nature directly to Moses. Instead of describing His power or judgment first, He declares His character—compassionate, gracious, patient, loving, and faithful.
This is one of the most important revelations of who God is in all of Scripture. It shows that at His core, God is merciful and full of steadfast love. Even when people fail or fall short, His response is not quick anger but long-suffering patience and a desire to restore.
To be compassionate means God sees our struggles and cares deeply. To be gracious means He gives us what we do not deserve—favour, forgiveness, and kindness. Being slow to anger shows His patience, giving room for repentance and growth. And being abounding in love and faithfulness means His love never runs dry and His promises never fail.
This verse invites us not only to know God this way but also to reflect His character in our lives—to be more patient, more loving, more forgiving, and more faithful in how we treat others.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for revealing Yourself as compassionate and gracious. Help me to truly know You as You are—full of love, patience, and faithfulness.
Teach me to reflect Your character in my daily life. Make me slow to anger, rich in mercy, and steadfast in love toward others.
Thank You for Your unfailing love and for Your faithfulness that never changes. Draw me closer to You each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
