Legislative aspirants within the Kano State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have officially rejected the party's recently conducted primary elections, declaring the entire exercise irregular and invalid. The aggrieved politicians claim the process was hidden from genuine party stakeholders and structured to undermine internal democracy.

The politicians, who are seeking the party's tickets for National and State Assembly seats, expressed deep frustration during a press briefing in Kano on Tuesday. They revealed that despite paying exorbitant rates to purchase their mandatory expression of interest and nomination forms, the state leadership chose to run a secretive voting process that deliberately sidelined legitimate contestants.

Spokesmen for the aggrieved aspirants, Ali Speaker and Alhaji Wada Masu, pointed out severe logistical contradictions that occurred during the exercise. They noted that the purported primary election could not have legally held on May 21, 2026, because that was the precise date the party’s committee was still screening the state's legislative hopefuls.

They urgently appealed to the national working committee and the national chairman of the ADC to step in, nullify the secret voting results, and establish an equitable process.
