Thousands Rally Across U.S. to Oppose ICE Enforcement Actions

Mass protests have erupted across major U.S. cities in response to recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, reflecting widespread opposition to the Trump administration's immigration enforcement policies.

The demonstrations began in Los Angeles and quickly spread to cities including New York, Seattle, Austin, San Antonio, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. Protesters gathered near federal buildings, chanting slogans and holding signs opposing ICE actions. While many protests remained peaceful, some escalated into clashes with law enforcement, resulting in arrests and the use of tear gas and chemical agents to disperse crowds.

In Los Angeles, over 200 people were arrested after curfew violations amid reports of vehicles being set on fire. San Francisco saw more than 150 arrests following property damage and confrontations with police. Austin police used chemical agents to break up a protest that injured four officers. Authorities responded by deploying the National Guard in several locations to bolster security.

Despite the unrest, the administration has maintained its commitment to continuing immigration enforcement operations. Activists have announced plans for larger nationwide demonstrations, including "No Kings" protests timed to coincide with President Trump's planned military parade in Washington.

These protests underscore deep divisions in the country over immigration policy and enforcement tactics, with demonstrators demanding an end to ICE raids and calling for broader immigration reform.
