Wike Conducts Final Inspection of Major FCT Projects, Attributes Success to Visionary Leadership

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, led a final inspection tour of major infrastructure projects across Abuja on Monday, ahead of their official commissioning this week. The inspection covered key sites including the newly renovated International Conference Centre (ICC), the Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) completed by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, and the Arterial Road N16 from Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway to Wole Soyinka Way, among others.

Expressing immense satisfaction, Wike thanked Almighty God for the health and strength to oversee the successful delivery of these projects. He also extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which has been pivotal to the FCT’s development.

Wike emphasized that the success of these projects is rooted in visionary leadership, clear goals, and firm commitment rather than unlimited resources. He acknowledged bureaucratic challenges but stressed that clear direction and political will ensured contractors met high standards and deadlines.

Highlighting maintenance plans for the ICC, Wike announced that the construction company Julius Berger will handle its upkeep to avoid the common pitfalls of neglect. Users of the facility will pay fees that will be reinvested in its maintenance, ensuring sustainability.
