The office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has been unsealed by National Assembly personnel, marking a significant turn in the ongoing dispute between the legislator and the Senate. The action, carried out on Tuesday, was a clear signal that the protracted standoff over her six-month suspension is nearing its conclusion. The office, located in the Senate wing, was reopened by the Sergeant-at-Arms with the assistance of security agencies.

This development comes as the Senate prepares to resume its plenary sessions on October 7, 2025. The unsealing is widely seen as a precursor to her full reinstatement in the "Red Chamber," allowing her to access her workspace and other facilities ahead of the formal resumption. According to sources within the National Assembly, the decision to unseal her office followed a leadership meeting held on Monday.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March 2025 following a dispute over the reassignment of her seat. The Senate's action, which stemmed from allegations of "gross misconduct," barred her from participating in all legislative activities for six months. Although a Federal High Court judge had previously ruled the suspension unconstitutional, the Senate had maintained that the matter was still subject to a final judgment from the Court of Appeal

The unsealing of her office suggests that the Senate has now moved to resolve the issue amicably, even as the legal proceedings continue. The move to reinstate the senator is a crucial step towards ensuring that her constituents are fully represented in the Senate.
