The Kaduna State Police Command has summoned former governor Nasir El-Rufai along with six senior members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to answer allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt. The summons calls on El-Rufai and notable ADC leaders, including Bashir Saidu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (also known as "30"), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini (known as "Mikiya"), to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on September 8, 2025, to clarify allegations reported by complainants.

This police action follows a series of violent disruptions involving suspected government-backed thugs who attacked an ADC and Social Democratic Party (SDP) coalition meeting last week in Kaduna. The attack occurred in the presence of deployed police officers, resulting in injuries to several attendees and damage to vehicles, including one belonging to El-Rufai. The police later sealed the ADC State Secretariat at Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna, hours before the scheduled visit of the party's North-West leadership to express solidarity with those affected by the violence.

El-Rufai publicly condemned the police summons and actions as unconstitutional and a violation of legal process. In a press statement delivered at his residence, he asserted that the police commissioner presented an unrecognised court order allegedly barring the ADC meeting, which had not been properly served to the party. He described the police conduct as a "dangerous descent into lawlessness", affirming the intention to challenge the police actions through legal channels, including the Supreme Court if necessary.
