The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has commissioned significantly upgraded administrative facilities following a comprehensive renovation project funded by Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM). The initiative, which targeted the critical leadership offices of the institution, marks a continued tradition of alumni-driven investment in the university’s operational capacity.
On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the university’s management team, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, formally received Dr. Olukoya at the Senate House to inspect the completed works. The renovation covered the offices of both the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar, introducing a modern architectural aesthetic alongside functional technological upgrades.
According to official communications from the UNILAG Communication Unit, the upgrades include the installation of modern furniture, contemporary interior décor, and enhanced toilet facilities. Beyond aesthetics, the project integrated new doors, cabinets, and high-performance computer systems designed to streamline administrative workflows and improve the ergonomics of the workplace.
During the facility tour, Professor Ogunsola expressed her profound gratitude to Dr Olukoya, noting that such interventions are essential for maintaining the excellence of the university. She emphasised that the project represents more than just a physical facelift but a commitment to creating an environment conducive to high-level strategic planning and academic leadership.
Dr Olukoya, a distinguished alumnus who graduated with a first-class degree in Microbiology from UNILAG in 1980, has a documented history of supporting his alma mater. His previous contributions have spanned various academic and research sectors, reflecting his dual background as a religious leader and a respected molecular geneticist.
The Registrar, Mrs V. Abosede Wickliffe, also joined in the commendation, highlighting the impact the refurbished spaces would have on the morale and productivity of the university’s administrative staff. The handover ceremony concluded with a guided tour of the 11th-floor administrative block, where the guests observed the integration of the new technology and design elements.
