Arsenal reasserted their dominance in the Premier League title race on Sunday, securing a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. The win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium completes a season double for the Gunners and moves them five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.
Braces from Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyökeres stifled any hopes of a "new manager bounce" for Tottenham, who were playing their first match under interim head coach Igor Tudor. Despite a brief moment of parity in the first half, Spurs struggled to contain a clinical Arsenal attack that has now scored eight goals against their rivals across two league meetings this season.
The breakthrough came in the 31st minute when Eze controlled a cross from Bukayo Saka and fired past Guglielmo Vicario. Tottenham responded almost immediately after Randal Kolo Muani capitalised on a rare defensive lapse by Declan Rice to equalise in the 33rd minute. However, the momentum shifted permanently after the interval when Gyökeres restored the lead with a powerful strike just a minute into the second half.
Eze added his second in the 60th minute, tapping in to provide Arsenal with a comfortable cushion. Gyökeres then punctuated the performance with a fourth goal deep into stoppage time, finishing a slick team move involving Martin Ødegaard and Gabriel Martinelli.
"North London is red," Arsenal fans chanted as the final whistle blew, marking their side’s biggest away league win against Spurs since 1978. The result leaves Tottenham in a precarious 16th place, only four points above the relegation zone.
