“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
These words were spoken by Jesus Christ to His disciples during a time when they were anxious about the future. He knew they would soon face uncertainty, fear, and hardship. Instead of promising an easy life, He gave them something deeper—His peace.
The peace that Christ gives is different from the peace the world offers. Worldly peace often depends on circumstances: when things go well, when there is security, when problems disappear. But the peace of Christ is inner assurance rooted in God’s presence, even when life is difficult.
This verse reminds believers that anxiety and fear do not have the final word. When hearts feel troubled—whether about family, finances, health, or the future—Christ invites us to rest in His peace. His presence calms the storm within, even if the storm around us continues.
For many Christians, this verse becomes a daily reminder to surrender worries to God. When we trust Him, our hearts gradually move from fear to faith. Peace grows not because we control life, but because we trust the One who holds it.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for the gift of Your peace. In a world filled with uncertainty and worry, help my heart to rest in You. Remove every fear and every anxious thought that troubles my spirit. Teach me to trust Your presence and Your promises each day.
Let Your peace guard my heart and mind. Strengthen my faith so that no circumstance can steal the calm that comes from You. May Your peace flow through my life and touch my family, friends, and all those around me.
I receive Your peace today, Lord, and I choose to trust You completely.
Amen.
