In a bid to ensure high-quality healthcare and safety for citizens, the Katsina State Government has shut down 22 private health training institutions across the state. The institutions were found to be operating below minimum standards, posing significant risks to the public.
According to a statement by Hon. Umar Mammada, Special Adviser to the Governor on Tertiary Health Institutions, a visitation panel assessed 31 private health institutions and found only nine to be compliant with the necessary standards. The closed institutions will remain shut down until they comply with the guidelines presented by the regulators.
This move is part of the government's efforts to sanitize the healthcare system and implement a more standardized regulatory framework. The government had previously ordered the closure of all private health training institutions in October 2024 for similar reasons, allowing proprietors to report for verification and re-registration.
The Katsina State Government's action demonstrates its commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its citizens. The public is advised to seek medical services from compliant institutions to ensure their safety.
The affected institutions will be required to meet the necessary standards before they can resume operations. The government assures that it will continue to monitor and regulate private health institutions to ensure compliance with set standards.
